65th
Annual RGV Livestock Show
Car
Show & Shine Event
Sunday March 21, 2004
The Rio Grande Livestock Show held its 65th annual show this
year in Mercedes, TX. Among the festivities and
attractions at the event was a car show. The weather had
been in question as to whether or not it would be rainy or if
the day of the event would be sunny and clear. As it
turned out, the weather was great and over 150 cars showed up
for the show. Dash plaques were given out to the
first 100 cars that registered.
Registration began at 8:00 am and the cars were lining up and
ready to sign up. This year there was no entry fee charged
to enter your vehicle in the show and from what we understand
and with the turnout that came out they are going to try to
continue to keep it free to enter for future years as well.
The cars were parked in the grassy field of the Mercedes High
School football stadium that is next to the livestock show grounds.
Awards were given to cars in various classes. As part of
the car show gala as well, the cars were paraded through the
livestock show grounds around noon for everyone to enjoy seeing
the cars drive through and wave. Jim Best headed up the
event and along with his crew of workers helped to make this yet
another successful show. Ok, enough of the words, lets see
some pictures.
