Los
Fresnos City Music Festival Car Show 2009
On January 10
-11, 2009, the city of Los Fresnos, TX. hosted their annual
music festival which includes a number of Elvis impersonators
performing, tours of Little Graceland, and a classic car show.
There had been weather predictions of some not so perfect
weather for Saturday however the morning looked great and sky
looked beautiful so several of us made our way over for the show
and event. Just a little down the road from the rodeo
grounds where most of the event is held, a couple of sprinkles
hit the windshield, but nothing too menacing. Upon
arriving there was a good turn out of a variety of vintage cars
from the 1920's into the 1980's. For a brief time the
weather was great and gave some of us time to walk around and
look at the cars, or listen to the music, or talk with friends,
but the sky to the north was starting to look pretty grim.
We were receiving reports of a pretty serious storm and cold
front making its way south to us and well, sure enough the sky
turned black and in an instant we were blasted with cold air and
rain. The temperature must have dropped every bit of 20
degrees in a matter of seconds. A number of folks hit the
road early to get to shelter and the rest of us looked for
shelter from the cold blast until the rains subsided. Was
able to grab a few shots of some of the cars but missed out on a
lot of them. The event was to be continued on to Sunday
with a lowrider and motorcycle show on Sunday.
