San
Antonio Rodders Annual Custom Car Show -- San Antonio
Sunday, August 17 2003
We arrived at 9am to Raymond Russell
Park (located across from Fiesta Texas on east side of
Interstate 10). There was already a line of cars waiting to be
registered as well as many who arrived much earlier. The
volunteers from the San Antonio Rodders Car Club did a great job
in organizing and staffing the event with plenty of people to
provide traffic control as well as registration duties. The
classifications were a bit confusing (even to the people at
registration) but we were given our placard and
a goodie bag full of neat giveaways
and proceeded to park and enjoy the show.
The weather for this years show
cooperated wonderfully. The temperature was great until late
afternoon, but a strategically placed Snow Cone stand provided
much needed relief from the heat. The Bexar County Drug Abuse
Resistance Education Unit - or DARE – held their annual
fundraiser in conjunction with the event.
At 4 pm the award ceremony began.
There were many prizes including a TH350 transmission and a
motorized scooter that resembled a chopper. There were several
hundred cars present ranging from hot rods and pick ups to
restored classics and muscle cars. The event was definitely
worth the drive up to San Antonio and we are looking forward to
next years show.
Details were as follows:
$20 pre-register, $25 after August
12th, $30 vendors spots
Registration 9:00am
- 12:00, Trophies ceremony at 4:00pm
Location: Raymond Russell Park,
