Street Market Days Show and Shine-- McAllen
February 8, 2004
Though the
weather had been fairly chilly and windy in the days before, the weather
turned out to be great for the car show in McAllen on Sunday,
February 8. With a little cloud cover and just a nice cool
temperature and breeze, the Street Market could not have had a
better day for a successful event. The McAllen Chamber of
Commerce along with various city groups and businesses held its
5th annual Street Market Day. The event is held on one of
the streets in downtown McAllen once a month for a few months
during the beginning of each year. The event features live
music, various food booths, vendors selling various
crafts, artwork, and other goods, and an antique car show.
The show was from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm with registration
beginning at 9:00 am. The event was held this month was on
Broadway, just south of Business 83.
The event was a
great success and saw the largest number of cars so far at this
event and a good number of people at the event to walk through
and look at the cars on display. David Ramos and his crew
did a good job of setting up and organizing the car show event.
There were about 85 cars registered for the event and several
others that showed up that didn't get their names on the list,
so somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 cars were out on
display. There was no entry fee for registering for the
event, door prizes were given out throughout the day as well as
a free t-shirt given to the first 100 cars that were registered.
This event is to be held again in upcoming months, so be sure to
check back for more details about the next Street Market Show
and Shine or call (956) 682-2871 for more info.
